Movie: Pan’s Labyrinth

I went to see this movie at the dollar theater (actually it’s $2 now) here in Dubuque this past Friday evening with a few people from school. I knew next to nothing about the movie, including the rating. I had heard only bits and pieces about it and assumed it was a fairy tale movie that was fairly gentle (possibly even a PG rating). Boy, was I in for a surprise. From the level of violence, I was able to quickly discern that this was definitely an “R” rated movie.

My opinion:

• It’s an interesting movie.
• Don’t let your kids see it.
• Violence is not taken to a new level, but made more realistic—but I have seen many movies with much more intense violent scenes.

I guess I would give it a 4/5 rating.

Mom: It’s not a movie you would enjoy.
