So, after spending a restful weekend at home, I headed back to Dubuque Monday afternoon. I decided I wanted a change of scenery, so I decided to keep heading on I-90 past my usual turn off on I-35 and head for highway 52. For some reason, I thought Rochester was right off of I-90 and that Hwy 52 was past Rochester. I saw a Hwy 52, but my dumb self thought that it couldn’t be the right one since I hadn’t passed Rochester yet. Needless to say, twelve miles later, I came to the conclusion that that was in fact the right Hwy 52 and I needed to turn around. I got off I-90 at St. Charles and intended to head back west to the Hwy 52 exit. Thankfully, I saw a sign for Chatfield, so I confirmed with the gas station attendant that if I continued south on Hwy 74, I would get to Chatfield where I could turn onto Hwy 52. Off I went.

It was a nice drive. The countryside was beautiful with the fall colors, and the sunset colored everything a gorgeous pink-ish color. It was also a lot less boring than my normal route–but it was longer. In fact, I needed to keep a high speed in order to make it back to Dubuque for my Ultimate Frisbee game. My average speed for the whole trip was probably somewhere around 65mph, but that includes having to go 30 through towns. If it wasn’t for towns, the average was probably more like 70mph (but don’t tell the cops that).

I ended up staying up till 3:00am Tuesday morning writing a paper which originally had a due date of today, but had been changed to Thursday (which I did not know about). Oh well. At least it’s done, because otherwise I would probably just procrastinate on it till Wednesday night.
