Back in the Land of $3.59/gal Gas

Man it feels good to be back. I really missed the high gas prices–jk. (Mom, that stands for “just kidding”).

Friday I headed home about 12:30pm, arriving at about 6:20pm. I threw down a plate of homemade Sweet-n-Sour Pork (yummy!) and then went with Mom and Dad to my cousin Elliot’s musical at his high school. Elliot’s such a stud.

Came home, ate some more food, watched some TV, and then went to bed about 1:30am. I got up about 12:30pm Saturday after-morning, and ate a few delicious waffles. Then I went out and drove the lawn tractor around pulling the rake and then cleaning up all the dead grass I had just extracted from the earth. That time was intermingled by visiting the cats/kittens in the barn, and playing around with Boe (our chocolate lab).

Saturday supper was my “birthday party” with my requested lasagna for the meal and peanut-butter-chocolate-peanut rice krispie bars for desert.

My Uncle Joe and his family arrived about 9pm. Isaac and I hung around and visited with them for a little bit before heading to Glencoe to a local establishment to view the Minnesota Wild hockey game (which they ended up losing, 2-1). We got home and I quickly fell asleep for reasons I will not discuss on this public blog.

Sunday we all went to church, then came home and had some more good homemade food. I left Plato about 3:30pm, then went to my grandparents in Lyle, MN, arriving there about 6:00pm. My grandma had tons of food (as usual) and I think I ate more at supper than I did the rest of the weekend combined. I was/am soooooo full. I left Lyle about 8pm and stopped in Janesville, IA to fill up with gas–my last stop before Dubuque. I got back into Dubuque a little after 11pm and stopped by the gas station, just to top off my tank and in order for me to get an accurate report as to how much gas money I had spent on the trip home, what my mpg was, etc. I somehow got 46.5/mpg from Janesville to Dubuque (109 miles). Normally I get about 38mpg going home, but I guess maybe the warmer weather is helping. It was awesome though. Dexter really is an amazing car. Just because of that, I gave him a free car wash. He was sooooooooo happy to get the dust off him (plus he hasn’t had a real wash for a few weeks now).

It’s 12:30am. I’m tired from all my driving, so I guess I’ll go hit the sack. I have class at 9:20am, and then work from 12pm-9:30pm. By next Wednesday, I have to read two books, and write 10 pages in book reports and 6 pages on my assessment of the chapel program at Emmaus, in order for me to get a diploma on May 10th. Prayer would be appreciated :)
