One Week Down; A Whole Lot More To Go

After a relaxing “kick-off” week with our 9th-12th grade camp, the real camping season started this week with our first 3rd-5th grade camp of the summer. Over fifty young’ns poured into the camp today. Sunday is a fairly easy day for programming staff due to the lack of acitivities (basically there isn’t anything on the schedule till after supper). But starting Monday morning, it will get hairy. There is also a small YMCA group coming Monday and Thursday morning which will also increase the load for the programming staff. Thankfully, this week there are enough counselors to allow Dave and Tina to move over to programming staff (that is their primary role for the summer). That is a big help to primarily to Josh, but also to me, as it allows me to focus on taking more pictures, as well as hopefully getting some organizing done in the Tech Room in the chapel.

This weekend, Josh, Lauren, Dave, and I will be traveling to Rockford, IL for Andrew Boom’s wedding on Saturday, June 28. Josh, and Dave need to be at the rehearsal dinner though, on Friday by 4pm. So we’re going to be leaving camp Friday morning at 3:00am. Drive the 14 hours straight through to Rockford, then probably leave right after the wedding Saturday night and get back to camp early Sunday afternoon. We are likely going to be driving my car (Dexter) since we can probably get 40mpg the whole trip. I just put on a new idler pulley and replaced the broken belt, so now my A/C works. Luke and I will put on new front rotors this week, and I’m going to get all my tires balanced. With that service done, Dexter will be rocking and rolling and ready for an 1,800 mile adventure. I’m hoping to maybe be able to run over to Dubuque for a few hours on Saturday before the wedding (Dubuque is only 2hrs from Rockford) and see some friends

The weekend plans means I need to have everything ready to go for the Friday Night event. That means I have to have the slideshow ready to go, all the equipment setup in the gym, and some other stuff. Thursday will be a very hectic day for me–and I’m going to try and get some rest sometime on Thursday so that I can do some driving as well.

Life continues to go well. I finally got around last night to finding out from the utility companies what I needed to do to switch the accounts into Rob’s name (since I no longer live in the apt, that kind of makes sense). That was a huge relief to get that done. God continues to provide for me even in small little ways.

Please continue to pray for my spiritual growth this summer, as well as my planning for right after camp as I head to Texas.
