24

I’m excited for the upcoming season of 24. You didn’t miss anything last season–because there wasn’t anything. They only had a couple episodes done before the strike, and then they didn’t have time to finish after the strike, so they scratched the entire season. Instead, they are doing a two hour event called “24: Redemption” which is basically a made-for-tv-movie. It will bridge the gap between season 6 and season 7. That will air November 23, 2008. Season 7 is scheduled to premiere Sunday, January 11, 2009 with traditional 2-Night 4-Hour premiere.

The show will be changing–which is a good thing, because so many people (I included) were beginning to get frustrated at the repetitiveness of the show.

Weekend Activities

Texas vs Texas Tech (football) is playing on Saturday evening. Both teams are 7-0, and at least in Texas, this is the biggest game of the year (this is probably one of the biggest college games of the season for the entire nation). Tickets are selling on eBay for upwards of $1,000. I’ve never been much of a college sports fan ‘cept during March Madness, but I’m surrounded by college football fans (especially TX college football), so I’m looking forward to it.

I’m also planning on trying to get out of the house and do some Geocaching around midland (there are about 120 caches within about 5 miles of me).

Randomness

Forecasted high today is 81 and 0% chance of precipitation (shocking).

Last night I attended the worship team practice at church. I’m going to be one of the sound techs (they currently only have 3), so, even though I understand how  to run sound, I needed a good overview of their equipment, as well as how they run sound in their sanctuary. They’ve got a nice setup, but it’s pretty easy to run. Out of all the churches I’ve attended, this is seriously the best I’ve heard (they were tickled pink to hear that). A lot of that has to do with the fact that they have the money to get good equipment and excellent musicians.

I hope to be running sound solo come December.

I continue to be impressed by our chemical engineering degree pastor (official title is “Pulpit Minister”). If you’re going on a trip and have 30 minutes, I would recommend listening to one (or more) of his sermons: http://midlandbible.org/mbc/sermons. He’s similar to Jon Wall in how he systematically works through scripture and preaches exegetically (or so it seems to me).
