How To: Download YouTube Videos

I get asked this question fairly frequently, so here’s a quick tutorial showing how to do this, using my favorite file converting site: www.zamzar.com. It is also important to note that videos from online sites, such as YouTube, are very low quality—especially if you put them full screen on a projector or something of that nature. These will not be anywhere near DVD quality, and will look horrible on HDTV’s.

1. Copy the URL for the video

2. Go to www.zamzar.com and click the URL link.

3. Paste the YouTube URL into the text box.

4.  From the drop down box, choose mpg. I can’t remember if PowerPoint supports only mpg or only avi, or both. If mpg doesn’t work, follow the above steps again, but choose avi in the drop down.

5. Fill out your email address, and within a few hours (can be just minutes sometimes), you’ll get an email from ZamZar.com with a link to download the newly converted video file.
