Chiropractor Results

I went to the chiropractor on Wednesday, after finally getting to the point where I was sick of the throbbing pain in my upper back and neck. I used to go every 6mo/1yr, but I haven’t been in about a year and half due to moving, insurance, etc.

Anyways, on Wednesday, I described my symptoms and my injury history (primarily sledding incidents). He did an examination and then decided X-rays would be necessary. I had those done, got some of that sweet electrical shock therapy, and then I was done. I went in again this morning to go over the X-rays with Dr. Wassenberg. It wasn’t the best news, but it could’ve been a lot worse.

Diagnosis: Cervical mechanical dysfunction (misalignment of your neck vertebra), radiculitis (nerve impingement), and myofascitis (your body’s protective mechanism with splint-like scar tissue) and (muscle inflammation).

Look at this image:

You can see how my head is tilted to the my left. I’ve noticed that I’m always that way in pictures. In the X-rays, it was just more apparent. That’s just how my neck is currently aligned (and it’s obviously not normal). The other problem, is that if you look at my neck from the side angle (in the x-rays), my neck should be curved (the same way the lower back is), but mine is straight. That is what’s causing all the stuff.

He says it’s most likely that my sledding accident where I flew 17’ and landed on my shoulder is the primary cause of this problem.

Treatment plan: 1x/week for the next 4 weeks; 1x/month for the next 2 years

All-in-all, it’s not that bad. By doing this treatment plan, we should be able to correct the problem. Dr. Wassenberg (website) and his staff are awesome.

Unfortunately, this means that Dexter’s own maintenance plan will have to be postponed (I was planning on some valve gasket replacements, new struts, tires, ball bearing replacement, and possibly a tie-rod replacement, brake inspection, and maybe even getting my A/C fixed)
