Camp Update

Camp is going well. I love being at this God-filled (rather than forsaken) place of awesomeness. Sadly, I already have less than 48 hours to enjoy it (and get some other stuff done here). I’m planning on leaving Saturday morning after breakfast, and I’m not looking forward to it.

I’m going to be traveling a different route back to Midland. This time I’m going south to I-20 and taking that all the way to Midland (I’ve always taken I-20 > I-30 > I-40 in the past). So at least I’ll get to see some new scenery and Dexter will get to travel through some new states. I checked the cell phone coverage along this route and it looks like I’ll actually have better reception most of the way, so hopefully my GPS tracking will be more stable this time.

There is some sort of mechanical issue with Dexter. When braking, he shakes a lot between about 30-40mph. He got all brands new wheels and tires, as well as his rotors were turned, right before I left and everything seemed to be fine and dandy when I left, but the shaking got progressively worse as I drove the 1300 miles to camp. We’ve checked the calipers and those are fine, and the rotors and caliper bolts and screws are all tight. It might be a balancing issue with the new tires, so I’m going to stop by a Discount Tire in Gastonia, NC (it’s on my way, but about an hour south) and have them re-balance them (it will be free), so hopefully that will fix the issue. I’d rather not drive all the way back to Midland with that problem, but I will if necessary (it doesn’t make the car all that unsafe).

Thanks to the powers of the internet, I haven’t gotten fully away from work back in Midland. There’s been a few times this week where I had to login remotely and take care of a few issues, but overall it wasn’t too bad.

Well, I have to go help one of the staff with some computer problems at their house. Peace out.
