Pyote Air Force Base

Saturday afternoon, my friend Steven and I drove out to the old, abandoned, Pyote Air Force base. We spent almost 3 hours walking and taking pictures. Here are all my pictures from the day:

  1. Hi,

Thanks for taking the photos. I use to live on Pyote AFB when I was a kid. I think from 1959 till 1963 before the base ever closed. I was in the 2nd to the 5th grade. Even the school I went to there is no longer there. The only thing that is left there is the house that we use to live in. When I lived there, there were a lot of buildings and they had a nice club on the base with a very nice swimming pool that we went to almost everyday in the summers. I remember the life guards name was Smitty…and he taught all of us kids how to swim. Smitty was a security policeman on the base at the time.

Anyways…those were nice pictures of nothing left. :-)

Thanks for commenting Bob! Can you tell me what this building was used for? http://flic.kr/p/7GiAjQ – It looked almost like bank vault doors on the rooms.
