We played at 7:30pm, for the first time on a dry field.
I played left field defensively. Fairly quiet. A few line drives, and a couple pop-ups. This was the first game I had to play looking into the sun. For the first few innings I could barely see the ball until it was hit. Made things kinda interesting.
Offensively, I kinda sucked it up. My first at bat I hit it off the top of my bat and it was an easy little pop-up for the catcher. My second time, I dropped an easy grounder and got out at first. My third and final at bat was in the last inning. I hit a line drive and the shortstop missed it. I was able to snag a double out of it. Then, the next batter hit a grounder to the second baseman. I don’t remember exactly what happened, but I think he threw to first baseman. I think he ended up dropping it or something and so I took off to third. I slid and made it in safe, but the third baseman missed the throw and so I took off running for home and scored safely.
Sadly, our team as a whole played poorly offensively, which led to our lost. Nonetheless, it’s still fun to be around a great group of guys who at least have a good attitude and are always encouraging.
My stats: 1-3 (1 double, 1 run).
Next game: Thursday (9/17) at 8:30 at field #6.
Today I drove to Dallas (actually I drove to Carrollton, which is a suburb of Dallas). There was a Men’s Breakfast at 8am this morning at church, so I went there and then left at 9:05am. The drive was supposed to be 5 hours, but due to the rain, there were a bunch of accidents in Dallas which caused traffic jams, so the trip ended up taking an extra 40 minutes. I waited about 20 minutes for the company to get the server finished up, and then I loaded it into Dexter and took off back to Midland.
On the way to Dallas, Dexter got 34.8mpg. Going through Dallas (on the way in and out) he only got 32 (sad face), but then I filled up again outside of Dallas, on I-20. From that point on, I drove 80mph the entire way back to Midland. Dexter rocked it up and got 37.2mpg! Dexter also went over 217,000 miles today!
In total, Dexter and I drove 697 miles in less than 11 hours. And I still made it back in time for a free supper. I love my car!

We played at 9:30pm, after another rainy evening. It was in the 70s but muggy.
I got placed from last in the batting order to the #1 batting spot for this game. I also moved defensively from left field to center.
My first at bat was a walk. I wanted to swing, but the pitcher wasn’t giving me anything close. The 2nd batter walked, with the third hitting a grounder in the infield. I was running to third and slid as it was going to be a close play. I’m was able to watch the softball hit the ground before bouncing into the baseman’s glove, and my foot hit the bag before he got it, but the ump had a bad angle and called me out.
My second at bat resulted in a pathetic hit. The ball went off the bottom of my bat on the swing and was about as strong as a bunt. Thankfully, I was able to beat out the throw. I ended up getting around the bases and scoring a run.
My third time at the plate got me another hit. I cracked a line drive up through the middle and got a single. Again, I was able to score another run after another couple batters.
My final at bat was another walk, but scored a third run.
Defensively, it was a pretty slow night for me. There were a couple short line drives into center, but only one pop-up to me.
So I ended the night 2-4 (2 singles, 2 walks, 3 runs, and maybe 1-2 RBI’s).
Next game: Tuesday (9/15) at 7:30 at field #5.
